The Construction of the World’s Longest Bridge Starts

The world’s longest bridge is now underway. The construction of this bridge is being handled by a Pairs based company and a German based company. This is a bride that is going to lead from Qatar all the way to Bahrain. This is going to be a bridge that costs over $3 billion dollars to make. The bridge is going to be over 40 km long, and have two lanes. The construction of this bridge is said to only take about 51 months to complete. This new construction is going to make the travel time from Qatar to Bahrain much faster.

Construction under Way for Big Wind Farm in Texas

Thanks to the open space in Texas, it has been chosen as one of the top spots to start construction for the next huge wind farm in the United States. In a desperate race to wing people off the need for non renewable resources fast, the government has been looking for perfect places to build wind farms. The dream is, by 2030, that wind power will make up over 20% of the nations energy. This is a big increase from the 0.8% that it makes up now. This would be one of the largest increases in the United States’ history of switching from non renewable resources to renewable resources.

Some Construction Companies Going Under

While some construction companies are posting gains the last few months, a lot of other construction companies are going under. This has to do with the fact that most big businesses and governments use the same construction companies, thus, these companies have not seen a decrease in sales. In fact, they are seeing gains. Other construction companies that have to rely on people for their sales are starting to notice a big decline. People do not have the money right now to be able to afford new housing and things like that, thus, they hold no need for construction companies. Only time will tell, when this “need” for construction companies could be on the rise again.

Construction on Ground Very Delayed

In the United States, the Ground Zero site (or the spot where the World Trade Centers use to stand) is looking at more construction delays. After 9/11 the city was hurried to start a new project in that area. However, with more delays in sight and budget far overrun, it is looking like the owner of the site is never going to get something rebuilt there. In fact, he announced to the press a while back that the rebuilding schedule that had been set and the cost that was estimated to do it was not realistic. It’s looking like construction work could be a long ways off for this once beautiful site.
